I was born and raised on the Great Plains of Texas in Amarillo to be exact. I went to college in West Texas, but after losing my mother when she was only 43. I decided that I need to do something different. I no longer wanted to stay in the same little town with the idea of a picket fences, matching chocolate labs, & Sunday BBQ’s. Don’t get me wrong those are all wonderful things, but it was no longer my desire. I needed a serious change, I saw that life could be over in the blink of an eye. I wanted to explore the world, experience everything, so I joined the navy.
I have to say, it has been an exciting journey to get here. I have traveled the world, raised two sons, been a single mom, a military spouse, an advice columnist, & everything in between. I’ve had my share of ups and downs. I have tried several career paths since I got out of the military. Some would say that it is a character flaw, but I think its an adventure. It’s my opinion that when you stop wanting to learn you stop growing, I’m still learning. Currently I am living in North Carolina with my wonderful husband and our three rescue dogs. It was a big change from the last twelve years of living in California.
I hope you enjoy my page, it’s a work in progress. My wish is that I might pass on some knowledge or advice from my experiences, so feel free to message me your questions. As my grandparents would say “pull up a chair and stay a while.”
